Background
Designed an end-to-end flow for a Fintech platform giving businesses access to capital. I translated complex backend logic (Machine Learning & Credit Scoring) into a seamless onboarding experience and a crystal-clear financial dashboard.
The challenge
Gro.Capital required a complex ecosystem to connect businesses with proprietary Machine Logic algorithms for funding. The challenge was not just visual design, but architecting a data-heavy system that aggregates Credit Scores, Bank APIs, and Risk Metrics into a coherent decision-making tool.
My architectural approach:
- Logic Mapping (BA): Deconstructed the investment algorithms to define necessary user data inputs vs. system outputs.
- Data UX Strategy: Structured a progressive data-collection architecture that syncs with real-time Investability Scores, ensuring high data integrity.
- Dashboard Engineering: Architected a modular dashboard capable of visualizing multi-source financial health indicators (D&B, Experian, QuickBooks) without cognitive overload.
The BA approach: information architecture & logic
To bridge the gap between the complex backend (Machine Learning algorithms) and the user, I conducted a deep analysis of the data requirements.
Data synthesis — I broke down the massive requirement list into 6 logical clusters to reduce cognitive load:
- Account & Identity (Basic access)
- Business Entity (Legal structure, SIC codes)
- Personal Financials (Credit scores, income)
- Company Financials (Bank connection, P&L)
- KPI Metrics (The “pulse” of the business)
- Verification (Document upload)
The Investability Logic: As a BA, I defined a correlation between data completion and value. The more info the user provides, the higher their Investability Score grows in real-time. This gamification element incentivizes completion.
UX solution: trust-building onboarding
Instead of a standard long form, I designed a Linear Progressive Onboarding:
- Chunking Strategy: Fields are grouped by context (e.g., “Let’s build your company profile” vs “Financial Information”). Users never face more than 5–7 inputs at once.
- Visual Feedback: A dynamic Investability Rating gauge (85 → 180 → 470) is always visible. It answers the user’s subconscious question: “Why am I filling this out?” → “To increase my chances of getting funded.”
- Integration Ease: To streamline the Financial step, I designed flows for automated data pulling (e.g., “Bank Successfully Connected” via Plaid), reducing manual entry errors.
UI solution: the command center dashboard
The goal was to move away from Spreadsheet UI to a Strategic Cockpit.
- Holistic Health View: The dashboard aggregates disparate data sources into one view: Credit Health (D&B business and Experian/VantageScore personal); Live Financials (real-time sync with QuickBooks/Bank accounts showing YTD Revenue, Profit, AR, and AP).
- Action-Oriented Design: The Capital Options aren’t hidden. Based on the machine logic, the user is presented with the specific funding types they qualify for (Marketing, Payroll, Expansion) with clear call-to-actions.
Visual identity & branding
- Symbolism: The Logo (G + Plant) represents organic growth fueled by capital.
- Color Psychology: Deep Green (#016D53) — Stability, Money, Trust. Vibrant Orange (#FFA200) — Energy, Opportunity, Call-to-Action.
- Clean Layout: Ample whitespace to make heavy financial data feel breathable and manageable.
Outcome
A fintech onboarding and dashboard experience that translated complex credit logic into progressive data collection, real-time investability feedback, and a single strategic view of business financial health.
